Supplemental Enzymes
Supplementation with plant enzymes, which will work in a
broader pH range than pancreatic enzymes, will help digest
your food, lessening the work of your digestive system and
relieving some of the stress on your digestive organs.
1
Supplemental plant enzymes work in a wide pH range (3.0 to
9.0) and they can be used to digest food in the stomach.
Plant or food enzymes are vacuumed off plants and various
yeast and fungi, such as Aspergillus niger and
Rhizopus oryzae. None of the fungal material is left
when the enzymes are processed and filtered. The purified
enzyme material is then mixed with the appropriate herbs or
whole food complexes. All of our enzymes are guaranteed to
work according to Dr. Loomis' specifications. Despite
marketing rhetoric about potency, there is no industry
standardization of enzyme activity levels at this time, though
efforts are being made to do so. For example, some companies
use FCC units, another AUs, and still another will create
their own units. Because of this, there is no way to compare
one brand to another for strength, potency, or
concentration, unless it is done by laboratory analysis.
Furthermore, enzyme potency cannot be tested if herbs or
other plant material have been added, as the added material
can contain the same type of enzymes as are in the product.
To avoid the confusion of activity levels, we label our
products according to weight, which is how raw material is
ordered directly from suppliers. Above all else, Dr. Loomis
formulates his products so that the enzymes and herbal
ingredients of each product are matched to the body's
nutritional requirements. You will find our enzyme
supplements to be of superior quality. Today, the experts in
the enzyme field—Associates of Dr. Loomis and graduates of
the Loomis Institute 2
—know that higher numbers don't
always mean better products. Buy the very best if you want

Use Herbs and Whole Food Complexes with Enzymes?
The herbs are analyzed for protein, carbohydrates, fats, and
fiber, and appropriate enzymes are added to the
encapsulation to ensure proper assimilation. Nutrients are
then delivered, past an incompetent digestive system, and
the body is nourished. This is the original concept on which
Dr. Loomis founded Enzyme Formulations, Inc.
